Graduation Process & Requirements

Whether you plan to actively participate in the Graduation Ceremony or graduate in absentia, it is essential to complete the Graduation Process in order to obtain your diploma. To receive your diploma, you must be both academically and financially cleared.
  1. Complete the Notification of Intention to Graduate (NITG) Form.
  2. Receive your Academic Audit.
  3. Once you are deemed eligible, complete the Graduation Contract.
  4. Fulfil all requirements identified in your Academic Audit by the stipulated timeframe.
  5. Check your name on the Graduation Drafts and the Final Copy (if not listed, email your Academic Auditor immediately).
  6. Obtain Academic Clearance
  7. Obtain Financial Clearance

Please Note:

  • The University has two (2) Conferral Ceremony Periods — May/June and December.
  • Diplomas are produced in large quantities and will not be printed or prepared on an individual basis.
  • Diplomas are available from the publisher’s dates in July and December, respective to the conferral period.

Graduation Drafts

The Graduation Draft List is published multiple times during the academic year to ensure accuracy.
  • Check your name on each published draft list.
  • If your name is not listed, contact your Academic Auditor immediately.
  • The Final Graduation List will be based on the last published draft.

Don your Academic Regalia

Preparing to march to “Pomp and Circumstance” requires wearing the traditional graduation cap, hood/collar and gown. Your academic dress will depend on the degree you will be receiving. To maintain the integrity and uniformity of our graduation ceremony, all students must wear university-approved regalia. The academic regalia consists of a cap, gown, hood/collar, tassel and honor stole (if applicable). Here’s how to wear your cap and gown: The graduation cap is worn flat on the head, parallel to the floor. The front point of the cap should be centered on the forehead. Graduation caps are NOT to be decorated. The graduation gown should fall midway between the knee and ankle (mid-calf). Tassels are usually worn on the right side and shifted to the left upon conferral of degrees. Flowers and jewelry should not be worn on the academic gown. Gowns can be accessorized with specific regalia like stoles, honor cords, kente cloth, and medallions in keeping with the traditions of the school.
